For those who have read my interview with Gregg Barnett would know that he's working on a game called Ghost Master. Well, the official Ghost Master website is up, and you can find plenty of details and pictures of the game there. There's also some details on Gregg (and a picture of him) as well..
"In 1983 Gregg started at Beam Software (the owners of Melbourne House) as a programmer working on the Horace series of games. With a conversion of The Hobbit, followed by his own creation 'Way of the…
Zdnet reports that there is an online petition pushing for an R rating video games category in Australia, in response to the failed recent proposal.
"The fact that a R18+ classification does not exist for video games when it does for film appears an unfathomable double standard. Indeed, in November 2001 the R18+ classification for films celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in Australia. Yet today, no R18+ rating exists at all in the category of video games. In this regard, Australia is…
Thanks to Brad in the forum for pointing out that John Romero seems to be missing on the Australian Game Developers Conference webpage. He was one of the major speakers scheduled, and was to talk about the future of mobile gaming at the conference. It looks like he won't be visiting our shores seeing as his details have been removed on the main page, along with his slot in the schedule. ** Unfortunately due to an urgent family matter, he has had to withdraw (thanks Brain for the confirmation).
Gamecube Europe has a great interview with Tom Crago, CEO of Tantalus, and Steven Bennetts, Project Director of MIB 2 - Alien Escape. They chat about that game, their relationship with Infogrames Melbourne House, and what they have in store for the future. It's a month old, but well worth a read... and hey, there's a picture of the Tantalus crew there too :). Head on over to gamecube Europe.
Gamespy reports that Infogrames are doing much better than last year, which bodes well for it's operations down under.

The quarter saw Infogrames? revenues, including publishing and distribution, at $109.4 million, a 39 percent increase over the 78.5 million earned last year. Breaking it down, publishing revenue wat at $83.7 million, a 41 percent increase over the $59.3…
Just a note to Sumea members - there's a fair few of you who have had an account for months, but have not logged in at all, so I'll be posting an email to see if you're alive. Also, there are a lot of members who have logged in once or twice, but have left no news, or weblinks, or any details whatsoever on their profile. I don't mind members with only a link to their webpage, but when there's nothing there except a name, it's not serving anyones time visiting. Please put something up or I might…
Not much news to post recently, so here's a few things to check out. Terminator 105 pictures (from Terminator 3), BMX XXX is (surprise, surprise) apparantly crap, and Shenmue 3 pictures! Yes, it looks incredible.. :) :)
Doom 2 for the GameBoy Advance has been released in North America.
"The game was developed by Torus Games and executive produced by id. Gamers can do battle with evil alone, link with another player for co-operative action, or connect with up to three other players for classic deathmatch via the Game Boy Advance Game Link cable."

Gamespy reports that the very popular FPS, Half Life, is 4 years old as of today. After many delays and push backs, it was finally declared finished on November 9th, 1998. Running on a modified Quake 2 engine, no one would ever have predicted it would still be used to run some of the most popular online games of today. Just as amazing is that Valve themselves haven't released a new game since. ;) ** I've been corrected.. Quake 1 engine!
