IGDA Melbourne: Automating GCAP

What: Automating GCAP

The IGDA Melbourne meet up for October this month won't be your typical IGDAM Tuesday event as the organisers are expecting a mix of interstate and overseas developers with local regulars attending as this event happens straight after the GCAP 2012: Inspire conference wraps up.

The 2012 One More Thing iOS Developer Conference was held on the 25th and 26th of May this year, bringing the best iOS developers from all over the world to Melbourne for two days of talks, sessions, and workshops on iOS development and the business of the App Store.

IGDA Sydney: Beer and Pixels

IGDA Sydney are holding another Beer and Pixels event at the Bank Hotel in Newtown next week, just in time for a pre-Free Play catch up and meet'n greet organised by the local chapter for all you developers out there. It's the perfect opportunity for games developers in Sydney to discuss their work and share ideas with fellow devs over a relaxing beer or two or three...

A special note for those coming next Tuesday, the bar upstairs is off limits, so you're meeting somewhere else at the Bank Hotel...

IGDA Melbourne is aiming to outdo their past four Christmas gatherings and plans to make this year's end-of-year-event for their local games developer chapter a HUGE one. Their Ninja Clapping themed event signalling off 2011 was an extremely successful campaign on Pozible so it's no surprise that they're going the crowd sourcing route again for this year.

The 2012 Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) conference has been officially announced today by the Game Developers’ Association of Australia and will be held again in Melbourne in October, late next month. It might have been announced a little later than usual, but that can be forgiven given the GDAA's incredible role in bringing PAX to Australia.

2012 Freeplay Awards Finalists announced

Freeplay have released their finalists lists for the 2012 Freeplay Awards! The organisers mentioned that they've received a big increase in the number of submissions for this year's awards with 115 indie titles sent in this time which is 35 more titles from what was submitted last year.

The 48hr game making challenge is on again for the sixth year running! The time honoured and much love tradition for local games developers which challenges them to complete a game within two days is back again this year on the weekend of September 28th and September 30th in Brisbane.
