Uncle Sam (and Team A) Wants You!

(from the forum, posted by Bittman)

Well he might not, but we don't always listen to Sam's opinion since he already has a job in the games industry, that bastard.

Nevertheless, we've got a whole heap moving, as you may have seen at Freeplay or read in the August Report, and things are looking quite good as far as being able to enter GCAP's 30th of October indie submission deadline. However, in the words of someone somewhere, you can never count on a sure thing.

So on that feeling of uncertainty, we're looking for some new members regarding art and programming. I'm not requesting specific talents in either one, we could just use some people who would be willing to join our team. We currently have 7 members, had a demo at Freeplay in August and plan to have what's required for GCAP 30/10 deadline by 30/09. So don't feel like you're going to be alone and that we'll suck up your work like some deadbeat studio, we're indie and we could always use some new members to be nice to.

Feel free to contact myself either here (and I'll follow you up) or via private message (and I'll follow you up). If you have any other questions, related to this or not, feel free to contact me. My office (pm box) is always open.

Great to hear this project is still going. :D I wanna see it completed and be all kinds of awesome.

I'll look into seeing if I can get Tower City into it as well. I would very much doubt it would win awards or anything being in an incomplete state but it would be some good exposure! =D

So the battle will commence then hey?

Well, we've got to get into GCAP first, best of luck to your demo also, I've been keeping a casual eye on it. Looking forward to seeing some other indie stuff there too, was a bit disappointed by Freeplay - I expected more indie things rather than just student projects and colleges.

And thanks for the promo Souri.

Well I have my doubts on Tower City making any impression on GCAP this year.

Not bagging my own project. But if the last few months of production progress of a volunteer project is anything solid to go by our little freeware game probably wont be 'complete' enough to qualify for the event. And that's not a insult to anyone working on Tower City. But if I learned one thing this year it's the nature of a freeware project and the speed at which things get done in it. Your asking people to work for free. So you gotta move at their pace.

I'll submit it in..probably at the last minute and see how it goes.

I do agree about the lack of promoted independent projects. I think there's a good few reasons for that though.

There are a few aussie indies floating around that are either oblivious or don't wish to draw their efforts to sites like this and promotional events, they enjoy their privacy which is fair enough.

I think the other reason is that, like most projects game related or not: It's hard to get something off the ground and execute on an idea and plan. It's easy to talk about big aspirations, but it's a pain in the ass having to do the work to back it up.

But I do hope there's a good 9 indie titles promoted at the GCAP event. Should be awesome!
