What's this all about then?

  • In my first and previous post in this game dev log entry, I had written that I wanted to do a game which was a collection of simple retro games. Unity released a new major release (2019.3) while I was putting the initial project together, and I…

  • Well, I'm making a game . I'm spending the next few weeks on making a small game to showcase the gamedev log feature on tsumea where any member can create a game entry and other members can post journal posts with art, music or just development…

  • Just a test #2. Still working on the new section.

  • So, I got a Commodore 64 when I was in the 4th grade. It came bundled with a Rolf Harris picture building program on casette tape which never loaded properly but from what I could tell by its box cover, you could build pictures from a selection…

  • Yes, the site looks very different and I've had to prematurely switch to this new theme that I'm working on for a few reasons, the main one is that changing certain aspects of the site to fit the new theme will affect how the old one looks for…

  • (this is just a test, please ignore this entry)

Here is some of my old work.. the first pic is of a 3d model of a human head I was working on about 2 years ago in 3dsmax, using nurbs. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't model a head with…

Someone suggested in the irc channel that we have some sort of speed paint challenge happening.. So I'm thinking of having a short 2 hour speed paint activity once every month.. perhaps on a Sunday night when everyone should be at home. Topic would be announced via the irc channel, and then you paint as best/fast as you can then post it in this new section.. waddya think?

irc.uq.edu.au (QUESTNet), at the channel #sumea

20th April this month for the first speed paint.. I'll post news as the date draws nearer.. 8pm to 10pm.

digital/traditional?

just for us non-tablet people :(

Submitted by souri on Mon, 07/04/03 - 12:50 AMPermalink

Digital... I don't think paint dries fast enough to be scanned in two hours. [;)] I don't have a wacom either, but hey, it's just for fun!

That does sound interesting... I'm a programmer, but I'll probably have a go too. [:)]

Hmmm... I might join this digital challenge and add my own insanity to it.... ;D

Hopefully my art for the 2 hour challenge would be better than the picture in my profile too.

Hi everyone, i was the one who suggested it on irc. and when i suggested it i thought of maybe painting a scene from ur favorite movie freehand copy/ or artists rendition. i think this would be really cool. :)

Submitted by inglis on Sat, 12/04/03 - 11:58 AMPermalink

i dont think we need strong guidelines, just - 'you have 2 hours go and paint something'.
but if we are going to just limit it at 'theme/genre' ..e.g. fantasy or scifi..and a person can go and paint their fav scene out of aliens, or an alien environment or just an alien of their own creation in a sexy pose (just using that as an example:))

why not a self portrait?
I'd find that challenging. How to get my nauseatingly exotic beauty across on the digital medium. lol

Submitted by rezn0r on Sun, 13/04/03 - 12:40 AMPermalink

The topis should probably only be revealed when the competition is commenced to makes sure that everyone starts at the same time.

As for an idea, maybe a battle scene? I think that could be cool.

Scott.

How about everyone whos competing thinks of an idea then Souri pulls it out of a hat (if one is around) and posts the challenge on the day?

Submitted by souri on Sun, 13/04/03 - 3:50 AMPermalink
