Portable Xbox ?!

  • In my first and previous post in this game dev log entry, I had written that I wanted to do a game which was a collection of simple retro games. Unity released a new major release (2019.3) while I was putting the initial project together, and I…

  • Well, I'm making a game . I'm spending the next few weeks on making a small game to showcase the gamedev log feature on tsumea where any member can create a game entry and other members can post journal posts with art, music or just development…

[quote]Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said that it would take his company at least three years to develop a portable console that built on the company's existing Xbox. "It'll be several years, more like three years, before you could do something like an Xbox in a portable factor," Gates explained. He made this statement in an interview with Reuters ahead of a speech at the Consumer Electronics Show.[quote]

Is that even possible? Nvidia gfx card, HD, everything compressed to a hand held in 3 years?? Most likely, when he says "portable", he means something 'slightly smaller' than what the current Xbox is.. [;)] ORRRRR... a laptop Xbox seems more likely.

3 years is a long time.
the only real proberly i see is power the chip would drain it real quick
but memory isnt really a problem, most of the data would stream from the dvd
i reckon if they could find a suitable way to power this beast it wouldnt be much bigger than a cd walkman ,in 3 years that is..

If they do a handheld Xbox in 3 years, then I'd be impressed.. If they do a laptop Xbox, then I think Bill is smoking some wacky tobaccy.. some pretty fine laptops these days.. Imagine in 3 years!
