Blue Tongue Entertainment, a video game developer based in Melbourne, Australia. Blue Tongue currently has 70 employees and is part of THQ Inc- a leading worldwide developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software. The Company develops its products for all popular game systems, personal computers and wireless devices.



Blue Tongue Entertainment was founded in October 1995 and has produced the hit titles of ALF Finals Fever, Starship Troopers, Jurassic Park, The Polar Express and more recently Nicktoons Unite! for the Sony Playstation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube. The studio is just completing its next Nickelodeon title Barnyard, based on the movie to be realized in late 2006. Combined with continued growth and development for the upcoming Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, the future for Blue Tongue is a bright one.





Game Designer



The Game Designer is responsible for creative writing, object placement and scripting/implementation of the world in a game structure. They must be capable of technical documentation outlining the theoretical application of a system. This position will report directly to the Lead Designer.



Position:-



? Create and execute level and system design documents

? Design system from combat, through puzzle design to interface flow

? Maintain regular communication with the Lead Designer

? Place game objects throughout a world

? Set up scripts to impact various design-oriented systems

? Tune and balance levels, puzzles, triggers and effects



Requirements:-



? Significant game industry experience including one published title and subsequent production experience from concept to delivery.

? Proven ability to design engaging gaming experiences

? Ability to rapidly conceptualise and solve problems in a 3D space

? Creative writing skills a distinct advantage

? Knowledge of 3D art tools advantageous

? Comprehensive knowledge of game genres and platforms.

? Highly motivated and organized

? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills







Level Designer



The Level Designer is responsible for designing, object placement and scripting of the world in a game. This position will report directly to the Lead Designer.



Position:-

? Create and execute level design documents

? Place game objects throughout a world

? Set up scripts on objects

? Tune and balance levels, puzzles, triggers and effects



Requirements:-

? ?Game industry experience an advantage

? Proven ability to design engaging gaming experiences

? Ability to think and be familiar with 3D space

? Knowledge of 3D art tools

? Written English and creative writing skills a distinct advantage

? Knowledge of 3D art tools

? University Education desired





Senior Programmer



The Senior Programmer is responsible for the systems design and programming implementation of technical and game design documents. We currently seek someone familiar with PS2 and GameCube architecture, and who has developed engine code for at least one shipped title. This position will report to the Lead Programmer and the Technical Director.



Job Description/Responsibilities:



Position:-



? Researching and implementing new technologies

? Developing reusable system architecture

? Develop and code the more complex game systems

? Assist with forming schedules

? Complete programming tasks in accordance with schedule

? Perform functional testing on their code

? Fix bugs



Requirements:-



? Significant game industry experience with experience in a senior role

? Strong C and C++ skills, 3D math skills

? PS2 and/or GameCube experience is essential

? Familiarity with assembly language is essential

? Showing particular attention to detail

? Being familiar with current games







Artist



A 2D/3D Artist can be responsible for designing, illustrating and creating 2D and/or 3D art assets. These can include character work, through environment and prop creation, graphic user interfaces and pre-visualizations. This position will report directly to the Lead Artist.



Position:-



To include a combination of:

? Producing 2D art assets including concept art, textures and illustrations.

? Create efficient and appropriate 3D models and textures for environments, characters and props.

? Define and refine lighting set-ups for both pre-baked and real-time light solutions.

? Input into game design and development pipeline issues.

? Utilize Dynamics; particle FX and physics animation solutions.

? Pre-visualization using Flash, After Effects or similar.

? Graphic design and multimedia/visual communication skills.

Requirements:-

? Demonstrable illustration or design background

? Proven 3D skills for both high-end and low resolution modeling a plus.

? Familiarity with Photoshop and a leading 3D package.

? Proven ability in at least two of the following: 3D environment creation, character and/or prop modeling, user interface design, pre-visualization, graphic design, particle FX, MEL script/

? Love of games and multiple genres appreciated







Technical Artist



The Technical Artist is responsible for ensure efficiency of the art pipeline and non-game-specific documentation and providing technical and art support to teams where appropriate. This position will report directly to the Lead Artist.





Position:-



? Research and develop process and tools to support future art development

? Understanding the needs of current and future game development as it relates to art; including shaders, optimal graphical performance and visual effects.

? Designing and writing shaders and visual effects

? Research and implement competitive production techniques.

? Work closely with all disciplines, but especially the technology teams.

? Identify and recommend software and hardware needs

? Provide both technical and creative support to art teams as required





Requirements:-



? Significant games industry experience in a related role

? Proven technical art skills

? Strong knowledge of Maya and 3dsmax

? Love of games and multiple genres appreciated

? Art degree preferred
