THQ Studio Australia, Brisbane

THQ Studio Australia is a video game developer based in sunny Brisbane, Queensland. Founded in January 2003, the studio is home to some 70 highly skilled programmers, designers, artists and animators.

THQ Studio Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of THQ, Inc. and has in its short life produced the hit titles Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies! and Spongebob Squarepants: Lights, Camera, Pants! for the Sony Playstation 2, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube. THQ Studio Australia has already begun work on its next title, Avatar: The Last Airbender, another hit Nickelodeon series now showing on Nick TV in Australia and already a massive success in the States.

Combined with continued growth and development for the upcoming Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3, the future for THQ Studio Australia is a bright one that seeks to nurture local talent, utilise international expertise and develop globally successful product.

Art Director

The Art Director is responsible for managing the entire Art effort on a project, providing support for Leads and strategic decision making, software sourcing, and administrating smooth operation for the art teams. It is their goal to maintain quality standards for the studio and ensure information proliferates from team to team. The Art Director is in constant communication with both internal and external management, able to communicate effectively with Technical, Sound and Design Directors to execute studio goals.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

? Art team management
? Set and maintain art quality standards
? Technical and tools development
? Develop software dependency strategies
? Develop and maintain studio visual contact points
? Regular communications with licensors for projects
? Art research development input

Required Skills/Experience:

? Minimum of 8 years games industry experience, preferably with at least
3 of those years in a previous Senior or Lead Art role.
? Proven ability to schedule in MS Project, defining tasks and managing
progress.
? At least one published title and subsequent production experience
from concept to delivery.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with a
methodical and patient demeanor.
? Proven ability in at least two of the following: 3D environment
creation, character and/or prop modeling, user interface design, pre-
visualization, graphic design, particle FX, MEL script.
? Proven leadership skills essential.
? Art degree desired, University degree in Art preferable.
? Love of games and multiple genres appreciated.
