Visual Effects Artist



We are looking for a talented Visual Effects Artist to join our team, someone that enjoys creating explosions, fire, smoke, dust, and steam. In this role you will create dynamic real-time special effects for a high definition action title. The ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for detail and an ability to bring life into in-game worlds through dramatic and dynamic effects using our proprietary technology. This position will report directly to the Lead Artist.



In this capacity you will design, create and implement a wide variety of FX working closely with artists, designers, programmers and audio leads. You will research FX technologies to stay up to date on the latest FX techniques, and constantly strive to raise the bar.



Requirements:-



? Previous experience creating special effects that enhance the game experience including one or more of the following: simulating flashes, explosions, water, fire, smoke, etc.

? Hands on experience using particle systems, shaders and mesh effects in game development.

? Advanced working knowledge of the following software applications: Maya / MEL, Photoshop, After Effects, Z-Brush.

? Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal and have the ability to interface across multiple disciplines

? Industry experience creating real-time in-game special effects.

? Shipped a minimum of 1 title on current generation platforms or 1 year of film or television FX experience.





Bonus Skills:



? Understanding of game engines, tools, pipelines and development processes

? Post secondary program in 3D, fine arts, animation or programming.

? Previous experience in creating effects for an action adventure title is a plus.



Portfolio Requirements:



? Online portfolio preferred, other formats accepted: DVD & CD-Rom.

? Examples of particle systems, fluid dynamics and lighting, ideally examples of your best work on shipped titles or personal work across any genre.

? Please provide a shot breakdown with your reel and/or portfolio.
