Irrational Australia has an exciting entry-level position available in our Canberra studio. This job will involve a wide variety of tasks and is an excellent opportunity for an organized, motivated and technically savvy games enthusiast to enter the gaming industry.

The tasks associated with this position will vary during different stages of the production cycle and different projects. They will include at least the following:

quality assurance (QA) duties including testing, maintaining bug database and tracking of bugs
management of other contract testers
formulation of test plans
management of build process and preparing releases
management of hardware and software including basic PC maintenance
preparation of PR and marketing materials

This is a full-time permanent position. A range of seniority levels will be considered with relevant background in game QA or game production duties taken into account. Entry-level candidates will be considered provided that they demonstrate the basic skill set described below.

Required skills

Demonstrated interest in and understanding of game development and game technology. Maps, mods and other game data or game technology will be valued highly. Understanding of contemporary 3D game world construction techniques (e.g. skill with UnrealEd or WorldCraft) is also valuable.
Demonstrated understanding of contemporary PC hardware and software including 3D video cards, Windows installation and maintenance, DirectX and drivers and so on.
Organizational skills including ability to use spreadsheets, databases, Word and other organizational tools.
Good people skills including ability to deal with contractors and other employees.
Enthusiasm, self-motivation and desire to work on making great games.

Additional Skills (valuable but not required)

Basic programming knowledge in any language or languages.
LAN and file-server maintenance experience.
QA testing experience on software projects.
Team management experience.
