Irrational Games is looking for a talented audio director to work on an exciting new next-generation console and PC projects. This position is open to candidates with several years experience in the games industry or related field and experience in managing audio production and integration for an interactive software product.

Irrational has always prided itself highly on its game audio and this is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for this in our future products. As Audio Director, you will be responsible for the audio components of all of our products including: sound effects, music, cut-scene soundtracks, voice samples and interface sounds. You will work with external contractors to develop these resources as well as developing some of them yourself.

Responsibilities:

* Conceive audio-scapes for our games including first-person shooters and tactical role-playing games.
* Analyze the audio requirements of current and upcoming titles on all platforms, and clearly define any necessary additions or modifications to the existing audio pipeline(s).
* Schedule and manage asset lists for game audio.
* Supervise external contractors to deliver quality assets. Review those assets and direct contractors as required.
* Generate assets (music and/or sound effects).
* Integrate and supervise integration of assets into the games.

Required Experience and Skills:

* At least five years working in sound for interactive entertainment products.
* Ability to use sound generation tools to generate sound effects as needed.
* Ability to critique and direct production of voice samples, music and other sounds.
* Ability to use in-house tools to integrate sounds into the game.

Junior Level Designer

Irrational Australia is looking for a talented junior designer to work on next generation console games. This is a level design position, so the majority of your work will be designing, building and play-testing levels, however, all designers are also expected to contribute to the overall game design and the design process at Irrational.

Level designers are directly responsible for creating gameplay through level building and scripting. You will need to combine a strong aesthetic sense and interest in creating visually interesting spaces with an ability to understand how gameplay is created. You will also need to possess the technical skills to ensure that your levels work within the constraints of the game technology.

As an level designer, you will be directly supervised by the lead level designer who will review your work and determine if it is artistically and technically sufficient to use in the final product. In addition, you will be required to work with designers and programmers to ensure that your art is appropriate for the game design.

At Irrational, we are currently working with Unreal Warfare? technology to create next generation titles. Experience with this technology building mods or commercial products will be highly valued but similar experience with other technologies, like Half-Life? or Quake?, is also valued. Candidates who have worked on creating levels for mods are highly encouraged to apply for this position.

* understanding of contemporary 3D first-person engine technologies and editing tools

Experience with this technology building mods or commercial products will be highly valued but similar experience with other technologies, like Half-Life? or Quake?, is also valued. Candidates who have worked on creating levels for mods are highly encouraged to apply for this position.

Required skills

* understanding of contemporary 3D first-person engine technologies and editing tools

* experience creating first-person levels using Unreal, Quake, Half-Life or similar technologies, commercially or otherwise (this must be demonstrated through actual levels created for these engines)

* understanding of and desire to create first-person shooter gameplay

* interest in and understanding of architecture, lighting, texturing and other elements that are required to create aesthetically pleasing 3D levels

* ability to use basic programming or scripting tools

* ability to meet deadlines

* ability to work and contribute effectively in a team environment

* good communication skills

As a game designer, you are expected to also have a wider interest in game design and creation and you will be expected to continue to refine these skills.
