The Final Hours of Prince of Persia

  • In my first and previous post in this game dev log entry, I had written that I wanted to do a game which was a collection of simple retro games. Unity released a new major release (2019.3) while I was putting the initial project together, and I…

  • Well, I'm making a game . I'm spending the next few weeks on making a small game to showcase the gamedev log feature on tsumea where any member can create a game entry and other members can post journal posts with art, music or just development…

There's a brilliant article over at Gamespot covering the the final development phase of the new Prince of Persia game. One of the most interesting articles I've read in a long time.

The article explains how Jordan Mechner, creator of Prince of Persia (P.O.P), was responsible for making Karateka during his college years, and the original P.O.P when he was 25. P.O.P was a very popular and influential game, spawning a lot of clones too (Another World, Flash back and you could say Tomb Raider and therefore all its clones as well). It goes through his career after a few failed projects, some career changes, getting roped back into making another P.O.P title, and all the development details on it! Great stuff.
