Senior Game Programmer

Job Description:

THQ Studio Australia is looking for Senior Game Programmers to work on future console-based titles. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the world's top game companies.

We are looking to fill several senior programming positions over the next few months for current and future titles.

Required Skills:

Game Programming Experience - 1 or more console titles as a senior member of the programming team.

University degree in software engineering - A Must

Strong 3D math background - Must be able to solve 3D math problems unattended and have a working knowledge of dynamics.

AI - Ability to understand and implement life like behavior models.

Console Knowledge - Has worked with current generation consoles including PS2 experience.

Tools Knowledge - VS7, Code warrior.

Scheduling - Is capable of delivering large game systems according to a schedule.

Has great communication skills - Ability to talk to all teams and leads on relevant subjects and has the ability to communicate technical issues to non technical people.

We are looking to fill several senior design positions over the next few months for current and future titles.

Required Skills:

Game Design Experience - 2 to 3 Shipped console titles as a senior member of the design team. Is capable of producing game pitches, and developing the idea through to a detailed game design document.

Current ability or potential to step up to a Lead Designer role.

Experience with designing, tuning and balancing levels for console titles (PS2, Xbox or GameCube)

Proven problem solving ability.

Great communication skills. Ability to talk to all teams and leads on relevant subjects and has the ability to project the vision of the product to internal and external groups.

Scheduling ability - Skills in scheduling design tasks using Microsoft Project would be highly regarded.

Level Design - Can take a level brief and expand it into a full level design document, describing all the key game play elements in detail. Then go on to build a level that looks good and plays great.

Tools Knowledge - Can think in 3D space. Has created levels in a variety of tools and has familiarity with scripting and programming languages.

Console Knowledge - Able to offer valid opinions on a range of console titles, describing in detail their strengths and weaknesses.

Excellent Documentation Skills - Able to write coherent, concise documents on level plans, game proposals, interface design etc.

Script Writing Skills - Has excellent skills in writing scripts and dialogue for a variety of game types.
