Don't tell them, SHOW them! As our concept artist, your responsibility is to take your brief on a rich journey through reams of scribbles, rough diagrams, research, scrap books and hand rendered art until it jumps, kicking and screaming off the players screen. Only fresh ideas need apply.

The position is with the BigWorld development team in Sydney, creating the characters, creatures, landscapes and interiors that will shape our Massively Multi-player Games, and bring inspiration and wonder to millions of players. You will be working under the direction of the Lead Artist and the Art Director and working closely with our designers, taking gameplay descriptions and ideas and working them into the concept art that will become the 3D environment and elements of the world.

Applicants must demonstrate both design ability and illustrative skills. The ability to use Photoshop 5.0 or above is essential. No qualifications necessary. Applicants are hired on the quality of folio and ability to work to a brief. Quick sketches at design meetings to visualise ideas right up to full colour renderings used to be build 3D models are all important.

Requirements

2D hand finished artwork skills
Ability to take text descriptions and develop concept art
Ability to produce polished photorealistic images
Strong knowledge of Photoshop
Pure Talent
Good team skills
Desirable

Games Industry experience
Ability to create textures for use on 3D models
Traditional Life Drawing skills
Ability to work in a variety of styles
Interest in MMOGs
Knowledge of 3D software such as 3DS MAX
Being an avid Gamer
Folio submission guidelines
We are looking for an original thinker. Therefore we prefer artwork depicting artists own creations. We are not interested in comic book art.
The folio should demonstrate design process, rough sketches and brainstorming for at least one of the pieces. Ability to work in an art style that is compatible with the exotic futuristic world of citizen-zero.

Salary
Commensurate with ability and experience. Relevant experience, and specialised knowledge all contribute to a higher salary.
