Our good friend, Yug, from AustralianGamer has made a call for all local independent game developers to give him a yell as he'll love give you more coverage!! It's certainly been getting tougher for small indie groups getting noticed in the sea of other independent game developers out there, so this is a great opportunity to get that extra bit of coverage. There are also some extra opportunities involved, but you'll have to give Yug a yell to find out more...
(From the AustralianGamer website)
The Australian games industry has certainly had its fair share of problems over the last few years, but I've noticed a growing trend lately - the rise of the independents! It's almost impossible to keep track at the moment - which is good and bad.
Good because it's a sign that there are other avenues for those that have either lost their jobs or are fresh out of uni, bad because it's hard to provide the coverage they deserve here on AUSTRALIANgamer :)
So I want to hear from you!
If you're a group that's currently making games (or even an individual) for commercial purposes on any platform - iPhone, XBL, Flash games, Facebook ... I want to hear from you.
And if you know friends that fit into this category, send them a link to this post so they can get in contact with me. Not just for AustralianGamer.com, but for plenty of other opportunities for which we are involved in as well!

Translation: There's
Translation: There's virtually no Australian games industry to report on, and no exclusive coverage to set Australian Gamer apart from Tsumea and Kotaku Australia.
But hey - if Australian Gamer becomes an indie hub or something then it might actually be worth reading. It's always just been an ego-stroking fest between a small group of friends.
Theres virtually no industry
Theres virtually no industry to report on?
Sigh ...

Truth be told I'm currently assisting the QLD Government as they prepare to head over to GDC. Myself and Matt from AustralianGamer actually developed the QueenslandGames.com.au website for them, and have been trying to keep track of all the local guys popping up so we can add them to the site, especially since it should receive alot of attention during GDC.
I'm also keen to get a list together for the GDAA now that they seem to have a bit more focus, but that's another story for another time.
Yeah, sure, nothing to report on apart from LA Noire, de Blob 2, raskulls and all the awesome stuff from halfbrick studios, interzone fiasco, blade kitten, flight control, and the next games from 2K, CA, THQ OZ, etc. Then there's other stories like success at Half Brick, 3 Blokes opening up a bigger studio in Fortitude Valley ...
But hey, hate on AustralianGamer all you like, thank god we're filthy rich, get paid tonnes of money, and don't care about anyone but ourselves .................................... oh :)
Ouch. That's a bit harsh. I
Ouch. That's a bit harsh. I do see what you mean but it is an Australian industry focused site so as the industry is small then the site can only reflect that.
Don't feel bad Yug...
Don't feel bad Yug, it's not a real tsumea news post without anonymous twats badmouthing the company or organisation that's the subject of the post. Just consider it an induction of sorts :P
