The long running (t)sumea awards took a small hiatus last year which we're happy to simply award the entire year to Infinite Interactive for Puzzle Quest anyway, but we're back at it again this year! For the next two weeks, we're opening the nominations for the 2008 tsumea awards and I've posted the categories below, filled partially with the finalists from the 2008 GDAA Awards.
When I have some time free, I'll be filling all the cateogries with titles released in 2008, but in the meantime, you're all more than welcome to post any titles / developers that are missing or should be nominated. In two weeks, we'll open the awards for voting which everyone is welcomed to take part in.

They could easily fit into a number of those categories.
yes, and they all had sound.
yes, and they all had sound. Any reason why the can't be nominated in that category?
All titles have sound
All titles have sound, so all games should be in that category. However, rather than have dozens and dozens of games listed in that category, it makes sense to only nominate only the titles that have exceptional (compared to the rest) sound production in them. This is where you guys can help out!
Does the Independent category exclude freeware?
Just thought I'd ask.
*Coughcough*
*Atchoo!*
*Atchoo!*
Hmm
Were these for best independent game? If so then you have to see which of these are local and which aren't. Else, if its for independent developer then yours (Achoo!) doesn't qualify because they are made by a variety of people and you cannot tell if they are small companies of large companies on their lunch break.
Also, to mr "Cough cough" are they all local? And are they all made by less than 10 people?
I was hinting at ROM CHECK
I was hinting at ROM CHECK FAIL, developed by local indie guy Farbs (me).
Yeah!
ROM CHECK FAIL is an awesome game.. but there isn't an indie game category.. only a indie caompany..

Best Handheld game

%58 IGN (Nintendo DS)
A game destined to be forgotten. The basic game mechanics are solid, and it has some good concepts, but they are overused to the point of becoming tedious and boring almost immediately.
%42 Cheat Code Central (Playstation 2)
The only thing that proved to be memorable about this game was how terrible it was. From the broken controls to the mysteriously disappearing audio, this game should definitely be avoided, even for die-hard fans. Although it might be tempting to play a game based on such an awesome series, the game channels none of the amazing spirit of the show.
%50 IGN (Nintendo Wii)
In the end, this is a barebones game aimed at the youngest fans among us. It shouldn't cost $30.
From Metacritic. Sounds crap.
Marty
Man, we look forward to the
Man, we look forward to the day that you fail Marty.
Similarly...
...we look forward to laughing our asses off at your next attempt at making a video game.
Fact:You are the one that is 'failing' and creating shit games - not us.
Not to worry, make an 'anonymous post' you weak, gutless coward.
Marty
Uh huh...
Yeah because Hellboy received such awesome reviews:
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/933078.asp?q=hellboy
49% average on gamerankings.
And let's not forget the awesome reviews Lightsaber Duels has been getting:
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/946617.asp
53% on gamerankings.
If you're not going to make an effort...
...to deliver the audience a compelling and memorable entertainment experience - do consumers a favour and get out of the industry.
Marty
so much negativity on this
so much negativity on this site.
You would think that a developer making a sub-par game would come as a shock. How dare Australian developers not strike gold wherever they dig.
Lets bitch about each other on the industry website. That will help game development in this country.
Personally..
Roket-Productions ftw! (Indie company)
Not biased or anything.
