Animal Logic is credited for the special effects in many movies including: The Fellowship of the Ring, Moulin Rouge, The Matrix, Babe, Planet of the Apes, and 300, and were the studio behind the hit animated feature, Happy Feet. The Sydney based digital visual effects company is currently making inroads into the gaming business with a new Los Angeles based studio called Animal Logic Interactive, headed by former Activision vice president of production, Giancarlo Mori.
Gamasutra reports that Animal Logic Interactive will focus on "original game and interactive entertainment design and development for both traditional and emerging platforms and media", and that there will be an exchange of talent and technology between the Australian and U.S operations. From Gamasutra:
(Giancarlo Mori) "With Animal Logic's commitment to innovation, and the potential for creative and business synergies between its original properties, this is a unique opportunity to push the boundaries of interactive entertainment."
How come they don't have the
How come they don't have the studio in Sydney instead? What's stopping that idea. Seems to make more sense to me
Because no one in Sydney has shipped a game in the last 10 years
LA has a pool of talented developers to draw from, Sydney has a bunch of blow-hard wannabees and old fogeys who couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag.
Australian industry
Lol. There exists a whole different level of proffessionalism and work ethic between local and overseas studios.
