Puzzle Quest and Bioshock pick up more awards

There seems to be no stopping one of the most successful original IP's to come out of Australia last year from Infinite Interactive – Puzzle Quest; picking up the Downloadable Game of the Year award at the 11th annual Interactive Achievement Awards.

Bioshock picked up the Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Outstanding Achievement in Story Development, Outstanding Achievement in Music Composition and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design.

Rock Band, The Orange Box and Portal, and Call of Duty 4 also cleaned up. Among other notable mentions, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences presented Ken Kutaragi, the creator of the PlayStation, with its lifetime Achievement Award.

Trip Hawkins, founder of EA noted:

Without Ken, there is no Sony PlayStation and that is beyond comprehension.

Infinite Interactive made Puzzle Quest. Not Irrational Games. =)

*laughs* Ooops. Better fix that one quick Chameleon.

Congratulations to the once-Irrational Games (I just can't get used to thinking of them as 2K Australia) for their part in Bioshock, and of course also to Inifinite Interactive for Puzzle Quest - the game that just keeps on giving. Honestly, every time I tell myself I'm about sick of it and that it's time to move onto a new game, I find myself thinking 'just as soon as I've levelled up'. Insidious! :)

Oh dear, how embarrassing! I swear my brain said Infinite Interactive!

    Thanks for the correction guys!

A story that seemed to escape the gaming press so far - BioShock has been given 'Game of the Year' at the BAFTAs! (British Academy of Film and Television Arts). All I hear in the mainstream press is how Daniel Day-Lewis got best actor and how Cate Blanchett missed out, but nothing about the exciting BioShock win.

Bioshock has been picking up so many awards across the Internets that it's almost boring news now when it picks up a new one. That must be a pretty sweet place to be. :)
