I thought they opened ages ago. What have they been doing with that building all year then?
We have been waiting to get accreditation in Victoria for our degrees. As we are not a University we must get approval in each state to offer the degrees we have had accredited in QLD since 2003. We are doing the same in NSW as well - the launch up there will likely coincide with the Digital Media Festival later in the year.
We have had Diploma courses (Dip Screen - Animation) running all year. September will the first intake of the degree though.

welcome to what life is like for people that live in small towns. they have to move to do ANY uni course.
Cry more. get over it.
People who live near big cities don't know what its like. When you live in a rural town, you -have- to move if you want to go to University. I had to move from Northern NSW to Victoria!
You shut up eastern racist a## hole i bet your from NSW
Hay only NSW is racist noy the other 2.
And so what if you have to move.
Ooop's I mean not.
Ooop's I mean not.
cry more mate.
it's not racism, as you are probably not even of a different race to me. you just live in a different area. and are scared you have to move away from your parents... oh it's so unfair.... teenage angst.
until you get your mothers boobie out of your mouth, i doubt you'll make it to the games industry.
I moved to Canberra to study, then i had to move to Melbourne for work. wasn't a big deal. you can't expect to pick up a job where you are. you gotta take whatever you can get when your a junior.
if you haven't got the passion to be willing to move around, then you haven't got the passion for the industry. it's no cake walk.
For the record. I'm from a rural victorian town.

Qantrm does offer online courses like the Dip Screen - Animation & Dip MM so you can get a start where ever you are and they will guarantee you a spot in our degree. Distance is always an issue in Australia - look at the s*** fight that passes as our broadband infrastructure.
We dont currently have plans for a SA campus but some day maybe. SA does have Carnegie Melon if you have the big $$$'s.

Apart from Krome Studios Adelaide there are no real development houses in Adelaide though. Also the Melbourne government has huge investment plans for games.
You are right that state governments in VIC & QLD have done a lot to build the industries there - I think state governments like SA should look to develop spin off industries that are being built on games technology like defence force simulations, interactive engineering systems and 'Serious Games'. This would build diversity in the Aus industry while building on the strengths developed in VIC & QLD without canibalising it. Also a good for the SA Gov to use Garnegie Melon for research and get back some value from the millions they given them to set up there.
