Potential Buyers for Melbourne House?

With the intention made clear six months ago by Atari boss, Bruno Bonnell, that various Atari owned studios would be on the market once their current projects would be finished, many speculated on what would become of Australia's longest running game studio, Melbourne House.

Screenplay has provided a well thought out list of potential buyers, outlining each candidate with their likelihood of a Melbourne House purchase. The outlook seems rather grim according to Screenplay, with only a small number of publishers likely to make the purchase, with the best candidates including Vivendi and Ubisoft...

Vivendi: Its financial difficulties erased by the astonishing success of World of Warcraft, Vivendi acquired the UK's Swordfish Studios (Cold Winter, Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2005) and Canada's Radical Entertainment (Hulk Ultimate Destruction, Simpsons Hit & Run, Scarface) last year and High Moon (Darkwatch) earlier this year. Vivendi has also published a recent Australia-made title, Irrational's excellent Tribes Vengeance. Verdict: A potential suitor.
