Truna has sent me the following news for you Brisbanites!
greetings ...
the following is a date claimer from the local brisbane chapter of the IGDA [International Games Developers Association], classes should be free and open to all .. we will be asking for RSVP so do keep an eye on the forums for details!
membership of the igda is also free: http://igda.org and the brisbane chapter forums [for details] is at the link in the end of this news item.
Heads up! The next IGDA event will be "Master Classes" on Sunday, June 19th, starting at 2PM. Save the date!
More info will be on the way within a couple weeks, but the basic idea is: at QANTM in downtown Brisbane we will have six hour-long presentations led by people in the games industry in six areas:
- Design
- Code
- Production
- Graphics
- Audio and Outsourcing
- Business
We invite those in the industry who seek advice on how to expand and advance in one of the areas above, or who may seek a career shift.
Also welcome are those dedicated to attaining a job in the given area. This is not a job fair or recruiting event, but there will be some advice given on what to study and put into your portfolio.
After each master class you can come to a breakout room where you can talk further and more casually with the class leader and with your peers.
That?s the idea as seen from 10,000 meters up. Watch this email list for further details.
If you got this invitation second-hand, you should join the low-traffic email list so you get future invitations directly. Simply email j.turner (AT) qut.edu.au and ask to be put on the list. There are only a few emails a month on that list so don?t be spam-shy; sign up!
This is going to be a fantastic event. I'll be therefor sure!
Yeah, I cant wait!
