I never thought of doing a self portrait using the upper body in it, so youve given me an idea :)

It's a very nice start. Are you going to finish it?!

finally some progress on your first post. Looking suspiciously beyond the realms of 'quick' activity, but is excellent.JohnN2007-05-09 21:13:06

ha, these aren't necessarily ment to be quick activities are they?? Thought the idea was to spend as little or as long as we wanted.. been recently unemployed mine's the latter

quick is a relative term so all is okay :D
I was just having a dig, I hope you spend some more time on it and progress it even further this month.

Defiantly beyond the realms of quick activity now. A lot of work in this one and I pretty board with it.. and as yet its pretty boring. working on something to finish it with a bit of spark

This is where Im headed. Always loved old sea stories so now Im involving myself in one! This is me surfacing in the belly of a whale after been Swallowed like old Ahab. with a little shanty community of old and new ships alive inside

Looks very nice man, good job on the painting. I must admit, before reading the description I thought you were portraying yourself as some kind of man-fish jumping out of the water. Not to say there's anything wrong with it, just funny how people perceive the same thing differently.

funny you should mention the man fish idea. Been very tempted to take it that way.. some legend of the deep! Because Im not exactly sure how I can clearly convey the whole whale idea at the mo

Submitted by WhiteEagle on Tue, 15/05/07 - 7:55 AM Permalink

Haha, cool, you could take it either way and get a nice result at the end. Personally I like the absurd man-fish idea, but that's just personal preference.

For the whale idea I think your second last image post was going the right way about it. Having the ribcage of the whale painted up behind the ship (I'm guessing that's what those strokes of colour are?). The perspective on the ribs looks good to me, so I'd just paint them up all shiny and veiny. Or you could just put a hook and lure in your guy's mouth and call him a legendary man-fish...

...the legend of man fish. Is this version to dark? I have two monitors and this looks great on one and way to dark on the other, all the cloud detail is lost. Alot of colours get lost. Compare it with the one above and tell me which is closer to the mark.

This has turned out great Oco, particuly the ship. I wanna see a higher res shot, its kinda small. Dark toned images always look really dark here on sumea due to the farily light bg on the posts.

It doesn't look too dark on my monitor, I can see the cloud details fine. Brilliant work!

Looks fine on both my monitors too man, nice job.
