Rat Bag Studios just recently scored the deal to develop a The Dukes of Hazard game, but it comes as a surprise when The Advertiser reports that game developers from Adelaide are having trouble filling their programmer positions with local talent! Rat Bag Vice-president Mark Bracken sums up the situation...
"We're in the bizarre position of having 15 overseas, mostly British, people apply for work to every one Australian," he said."While it's good to have this international recognition and we welcome people from overseas, the process of hiring internationally is slow and costly...."
"We think there's an abundance of local programmers but they're just not applying here," he said."
The article mentions that people may be intimidated from applying for Rat Bag due to a presumption that there is a high entry level barrier, which doesn't seem to be the case. If you're a local programmer, now would be a good time to apply to Ratbag! Ratbag needs 10 programmers immediately plus another six in the next three months to take its workforce to about 80.
