I've uploaded the second batch of Game Connect: Asia Pacific 2008 videos up on youtube, and you can see them in our media section!
First on the list is the session on the Xbox Live Community games where Sean Jenkin from XNA Game Studio goes through the process of exporting and pushing a game for the Xbox Live arcade marketplace. If you're an indy developer, be sure to check this session out!
Next on the list is The Brass Tacks of Game Design. David Hewitt - Tantalus Media, Jared Pearson - Pandemic Studios, and Luis Gigliotti - THQ Studio Australia are on the panel and they discuss all the design issues from conception to completion, as well as offer up ways to push forward the game design field. A definite must see for all you game designers out there!
The third session is The Advantages of Using Middleware in Game Development, which was done by keynote speaker, Jay Wilbur, from Epic Games. While Jay Wilbur mostly promotes the Unreal Engine in this session, we do get to see Rowan Wyborn, Technical Director at 2K Australia, discuss some of the issues and benefits they experienced during their hit title, Bioshock. Check it out!
Anyway, I've still got four more sessions to encode and upload, so be sure to see a final batch of videos very soon!
Thanks Again
So far you're yet to post something I haven't attended though, I feel like I must have been stalking you.
Four videos left to encode and upload
Yeh, I think I went to the most popular sessions. I have four sessions left to upload, as well as the awards ceremony.
How to lose your team in 10 steps, by 2k Australia
The Popcap presentation
Teaching artists to code, Matt Ditton from Pandemic
The publisher session which Yug hosted
I've had to upgrade my adsl connection to a faster speed so it doesn't take 5 hours to upload every 10 minute segment now (it only takes 2 and a half hours!), but for some reason, the upload stalls at around 15% when I try to bulk upload on youtube. So now I have to do it manually, which I do when I have a break of some sort and don't need to use the net.
