Krome Studios developing digital download titles

Develop mag has an interview with Krome Studios CEO, Robert Walsh, on "exclusivity, rising budgets, the family market and emerging digital platforms." Some interesting bits of information pop up during the interview, including Krome Studios trying their hand at the digital download market. Robert reveals that Krome are making a 2D/3D side-scrolling action game based on a comic book by Creative Director, Steve Stamatiadis, as wel as another undisclosed title...

(Roert Walsh) We've actually got two in development at the moment. One is going to be a 2D/3D side-scrolling action game based on a comic book character that one of my colleagues had out there for a while.

The really cool thing about the digital games platform is it allows you to test your IP in the marketplace without technically having to spend millions and millions of dollars to get to a perfect concept.

Oh, and also... Krome Studios are now over a whopping 400 employees! When we had an interview with Alfred Milgrom from Melbourne House, he described how it was a handful coming from a small company of three to manage over a hundred in such a short time, so I can only imagine the logistics of looking after four times that many people. Largest independent developer, indeed!
