Krome celebrates 10 years of development in the number 41 spot.
Brisbane, Australia – May 13, 2009 – Every year UK based magazine Develop, forms the Develop 100 list that ranks "The world's most bankable game studios." Australian based developer Krome Studios was awarded the number 41 spot, placing them in the top 50 alongside developers such as LucasArts, Blizzard and EA.
Krome Studios has been in the video game development industry since 1999, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. With 19 titles on 89 console platforms, they are Australia's leading development house working with major international publishers including LucasArts and Activision.
CEO and co-founder Robert Walsh said "This has been an amazing milestone and achievement in Krome's history and comes at a great time for the studio. The creativity and dedication from our staff has made Krome one of the best in the business and the future only holds greater things."
With the ranking system based on sales from 2008 it's easy to see why Krome Studios is ranked with the best in the industry. Releasing two highly successful Star Wars® titles – Star Wars ®: The Force Unleashed and Star Wars® The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels – and the holiday favourite Scene It? ® Box Office Smash! Krome took the industry by storm.
In 2009 Krome Studios is set to raise the bar higher with the highly anticipated releases TRANSFORMERS: Revenge of the Fallen and Star Wars® The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes.
Co-founder and Creative Director Steve Stamatiadis said "As an independent studio we are competing against some of the world's largest publishing houses. To be listed alongside them is a great accomplishment for Krome and the Australian industry."

Blue Tongue also made it in the over all top 100 list. I think congrats is in order for both companies.
Tantalus
Tantalus was the only local dev to make the top 100 last year.

It's always interesting to check out the Develop top developers list (which is determined by the revenues their games made in the UK, and not by review scores etc).
Good on Krome, Blue Tongue,
Good on Krome, Blue Tongue, well deserved.
Everyone knows that the UK dev list referred to that had Tantalus in last year was "bogus"... it was merely a slap at the US lists because the UK guys thought the US lists didn't do the UK dev's justice. This was widely reported and I think *everyone* in the industry accepted this, except Tantalus of course, which was kinda embarrassing as Tantalus kept referring to themselves as the best dev in Australia all year based on Pony Friends :)
Anonymous, that's not very
Anonymous, that's not very nice.
We should be praising all Australian development studios that make it into these lists, and even the ones that don't. It shows that the staff at these development houses put in the hardwork to make good games and deserve a pat on the back regardless.
But...PONY FRIENDS!
