THQ has announced their financial results, and de Blob has been listed with sales of 700,000 so far. While the numbers are pretty good for the Blue Tongue developed title, it was most (un)surprising to see THQ's other titles that made some huge sales (Saints Row 2 sold 2.6 million units and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 sold 4 million units). Originality and style just doesn't bring those sorts of numbers it seems.
THQ have made some big cuts in their workforce late last year, and it looks like the publisher plans on some further drastic restructuring. A total of 600 people will be let go from THQ and its internal studios, making up a massive 24% of the employees at THQ. With two THQ owned studios in Australia (Blue Tongue, and THQ Studio Australia), one hopes they both make it through this second round of lay offs.
