AustralianGamer interviews Steve Stamatiadis

AustralianGamer have a great interview with Krome Studios co-founder and Creative Director, Steve Stamatiadis. Steve chats to Yug about all things going on at Krome including some bits on the Star Wars games that Krome have been working on and how they got the job from LucasArts, the next Ty - The Tasmanian Tiger game, and starting on the game for his comic book creation, Blade Kitten. Steve ends the interview with some great advice for aspiring artists wanting in the games industry...

Steve: Practice, practice, practice. Work hard at what you do. It's not enough to say I have the knowledge, you have to have the passion. You get folios come through that have a high res character model, and I think 'you may have used alot of poly's, but that doesn’t make it a high res character model. You have to show that you're at a level that's employable, not just having done a course that shows you the basics. You're basic stuff is great, but put the extra effort in to learn what techniques are being used at the moment.

Looks like the blade kitten saw something more interesting than the generic robot it's fighting.

Can we keep the personal insults to a minimum, please? I don't understand why anyone would want to take a stab at someone like Steve, particularly in response to such a great interview he gave. Your first sentence suggests that you have some problem with his art - and it puzzles me because he is one damn talented fellow.

If you have an issue about his credit for Harry, which seems like a legitimate question to ask, I'm sure you can write about it in a more constructive and mature way. Heck, provide something to back up your doubts. Anything, other than just a brief quip.
