Gamecock tried to delay Fury

Company

Gamecock, the publisher who handled the distribution and marketing of Auran's Fury in North America has spoken out about the ill-fated title. Gamecock CEO, Mike Wilson, says that Gamecock won't hurt too badly over the PvP MOG and will likely recoup their investment eventually, but they had tried to delay the release of Fury because it "wasn't ready"...

(Wilson) .... Auran had much more at stake. “Those guys had everything invested in this game, and really gave it a great effort.”

“We tried to get Auran to hold the game and release it in” January, Wilson said, saying the massively multiplayer online game wasn’t ready for prime time. It was released in October. But he said the company only handled the North American marketing and didn’t have much say on the release date.

The game was ultimately lost in the end of year AAA title rush. A late January release date would have been perfect, they could have sorted out the technical issues and it would have gotten more attention in the quieter time of January.

    Very sad stuff :(

The idea that "Gamec*ck will likely recoup the entire investment it made in publishing Fury" should show exactly how much marketing budget the publisher put into the game in the US market.

and Souri - the comment filter prevents me using the proper name above :)

I posted on the forums trying to get them to delay it too, but I suspect they were running out of cash and only managed to survive this long based on what little sales of the game they got.

Let the blamestorming begin. So its not the publishers fault, and its not the lead designers fault - maybe its those guys who only came in 9-5.

I wonder ... If Gamec*ck put any money in? advance or development funds? or something.
