Nnooo on WiiWare and their game Pop

Company

Kotaku have a feature up about a little known team from Sydney called Nnooo! Games on their WiiWare title named Pop! Pop happens to be the first Western game announced for WiiWare, and the article reveals how the team was able to score the dev kits to develop Pop due to their ideas and not by how well known they are. Of course, it also required a bit of planning and effort, and you'll find out more from the feature...

(Nic Watt ) "Like Every Extend Extra, Geometry Wars, Tetris and Lumines Pop has waves of gameplay which get progressively more challenging and fast paced", he says. "It also has deep mechanics in its scoring which allow experienced players to not only score high but also jump past easy levels quickly so they can get to the harder ones".

I wish the guys developing this game the best of luck, however I wonder how many people:
    1) Go online with their Wii
    2) Buy games through their Wii

Gamasutra had an article recently about Nintendo's sales figures and while the Wii console is selling very well, the Wii software is not. I suspect this is because most people get Wii sports and don't feel the need to go anywhere from there. I know people who think the Wii only plays Wii sports (non-gamers).

I'm not sure if the majority of people that have be lured into the console market with the accessibility of the Wii will be technically savvy, or interested enough to get online with it and buy games, it's a different demographic to the X360 or PS3 markets. It will be interesting to see how this goes.
