Game Ban Challenge Dropped

The Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia (IEAA) has announced that it won't challenge the ruling of "Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure" by the Federal Government's Classification Review Board. The game had been refused classification by the review board with the opinion that it would encourage players to commit the crime of graffiti. From the Sydney Morning Herald...

"The board of the IEAA said that while it felt there were strong legal ground to challenge the decision, costs were a factor.

"Our decision to not appeal this matter in the Federal Court was made on the basis of the costs involved in establishing these facts in a court of law," IEAA CEO Mr Chris Hanlon said in a statement.

"The IEAA also believes it is more constructive to work with the Attorney General's Department to improve the classification process".
