"Don't Be Distracted By PR!"
23 August @ 7 pm to 8:30 pm, Melbourne
Presented by Dissecta.com
Melbourne, 21 July 2005 - Dissecta presents "Don't Be Distracted By PR!", to be held Tuesday 23 August 2005 at the Australian Games Innovation Centre, in the Atari Building, Queens Road, Melbourne.
Dissecta founder Tim Richards said "the ability to influence public opinion, is critical to the success of any game or interactive entertainment product." "Game developers and other interactive entertainment developers have more interest in ensuring their work is well received than any other part of the industry."
"Don't Be Distracted By PR! acknowledges that public relations is normally something game developers don't have time for." Tim said. "However PR must be tackled, and it is as much about developers influencing the public, as it is about influencing key people in the industry such as publishers or video game agents."
Starting at 7pm, a panel of game developers will discuss making games and the annoying business of public and trade relations, in Don't Be Distracted by PR! Dissecta is pleased to confirm Morten Brodersen, CEO of Third Wave Games, as key speaker. Morten has over 10 years in the industry, including working at Rare Ltd in the UK where he developed the 3D engine used in the 6 million plus selling Banjo Kazooie, and also worked on Donkey Kong Country 2 and Perfect Dark II. Third Wave Games are releasing their first title 'War World' very soon, which is a PC based mech-robot combat game (see www.warworld.com). Mr Brodersen will preview the title and provide a case study on their self-publishing activity.
The 23 August event will start at 7pm sharp and run for 1.5 hours, including an audience Q&A. The event will be held at the Australian Games Innovation Centre, Level 8, The Atari Building, 14 Queens Road, Melbourne.
