Free Play '05 Conference Announced

(Although Sumea posted the announcement 3 months ago, Gamasutra has just picked up on the Free Play '05 announcement. It's only 2 months away, folks! Shamelessly ripped from Gamasutra...)

The second annual Free Play game conference has been announced in Australia for this July, and will once again focus on independent game development.

Both independent and professional game developers, game artists and modders are being encouraged to attend the event in Melbourne, which has been tentatively arranged for July 15th to 17th at the Australian Centre for The Moving Image.

The inaugural Free Play conference took place last May and was generally hailed as a success. Its primary aim was to provide a forum for Australian independent game developers to share skills, showcase their work, initiate new projects, discuss and strategize.

A particular focus was placed on open source game engines, distributed project models and shareware distribution. Professional developers were also catered for with specific talks and events, as were modders and game artists.

Although complete details of the conference's dates and entry requirements are not yet available, they will be made at the official Free Play website in the near future.
