A little closer to home, Telstra has just announced their new GameNow service...
TELSTRA BigPond has launched a subscription-based computer game download service.
The new service, which is targeted at broadband users, gives consumers access to a library of computer games for a monthly fee.
Rather than downloading complete titles, consumers will receive the games in stages as play progresses...
BigPond managing director Justin Milne said personal computers were becoming "the hub" of home entertainment.
Telstra said the service would provide a cost-effective alternative to paying the full price for computer games which typically retail for between $50 and $100. BigPond customers will be able to subscribe to the service for $19.95 per month; the remainder of the market will pay $24.95.
