Under the Ocean is now on Steam Early Access

Location

Under the Ocean is the sequel to Paul Greasley's awesome free 2010 pixellated survival game, Under the Garden, and it pushes the idea of its predeccessor a whole lot further, visually and gameplay-wise. There's a lot more depth when it comes to collecting food and resources, crafting weapons, and building shelter. It also boasts random terrain generation, a whole bunch of different environment types to explore, varying weather effects and animal inhabitants, and hundreds of items to pick up, use, and interact with.

Most incredibly, Under the Ocean is the handywork of just two main developers in New Zealand: Michael Reitzenstein (Programmer) and Paul Greasley (artist). We've had Michael and Paul for an interview in the past on their Black Market space trading / action game, and more recently had Paul for our Making Games without Programming feature.

The great news is that Under the Ocean is now an Early Access game on everyone's favourite digital distribution platform, Steam. Valve created the Early Access feature to allow gamers access to games as they are being made and to also be involved in the development process by providing direct feedback to the developers through the Steam platform.

Currently at Alpha 4.05, there's a whole lot more development still planned for Under the Ocean, and the developers are certainly open to ideas from fans on where to take this great game. For around $6.99(US), it's an absolute steal. Grab it now on Steam!!
