Location

SEGA and Disney Interactive have today announced a HD reimagining of the classic Sega Genesis game, Castle of Illusion. They've release a trailer and a bunch of screenshots of the 3D platformer which is set for release later this year as a digital download through XBox Live Arcade, the Playstation Network, and PC...

"The original Castle of Illusion was tremendously entertaining and has a well-deserved reputation as a SEGA classic. Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse brings this great game to a new generation," said Chris Olson, vice president of Digital Business at SEGA of America. "Mickey is back and he looks fantastic."

The Castle Illusion remake is currently in development at SEGA Studios Australia in Brisbane and looks to be the studios' final swan song before closing down. The Brisbane studio is said to have some guidance from the original director of the Mega Drive game who apparently now works at Disney Interactive.

SEGA Studios Australia was established in 2002 as the Australian branch of UK-based games developer, The Creative Assembly, and was best known most for producing Total War titles such as Medieval II: Total War, Stormrise, and more recently, London 2012 – The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games.
