Kotaku Australia is reporting on a rumour they've received from an anonymous source that the Australian arm of 2K Marin has suffered staff cuts recently. 15 employees have reportedly been let go from the Canberra based games studio which has been quietly working on X-Com for the past few years.
There's not much further information on why they were let go or the type of staff that got retrenched, but it does continue the sombre news coming from the larger studio sector of the local games development industry in the last week including the shuttering of KKM Brisbane and the ABC report on its closure and the state of Australian games development. Additionally, a feature on Kotaku AU yesterday focussed on the story of one ex-THQ Studio Australia programmer who had to make the move overseas when his studio closed down recently.
