Activity #1 - 2D Matias

Heres the pencil sketch I came up with, she's a little too butch and the face need alot of work.

I was going for a generic armour look, nothing special, I gave her a nice sort-of gorget just to make here a little bit more important.

I'm itching to start the colouring but I'm back home in Townsville so of course I left my tablet back in Brisbane, so the colour won't be here for a while, oh well.

Any suggestions and insightfull hints to fix the face would be well appreicated.

Cheers
Matias

I don?t mind the butch myself, but I suppose it depends on what you are trying to achieve. I think the main thing that could do with some work, is the addition of some more personal marking, rank, insignia, scribbled slang stuff like that, the little details that will make her more interesting and more individual. Other then that I think the boots could do with a bit of work as they look a little generic and don?t totally fit with the rest of her design.

But it is still a good concept.

Yeah. I think your right about the boots, I might make them armoured as well, just to carry on the metal theme, I also agree with the extra marking and trinkets, plus it will give me something to do while I'm away!

Ok, I've spent a little too long on the sketch, but here it is, I added a bit more stuff so she looks, better equiped, I was gonna put a pack on her back, but I thought she could have someone else carry her packs!

I'd better get started on the colour version as I am back in Brisbane, back with ma trusatee tabalet!!

Very cool.

Her face needs a little work still. Her eyes are too far apart and there isn't enough room between her eyes and the side of her head. Personal preference here, but her mouth look a little wide as well.

Sweet armour. The scratches and dints really give it character.

That second one is heaps better, good work.

Yeah, I agree with Makk. The second one is way better. Nice details too (something that I often skimp on in my own work.)

Hey, ok after messin about and not working on her, this has taken a while, also had trouble with her eyes, damn finickey things, plus I got tangled up in little details that seem really cool a 300-400% but back a this size, about 50%, they sortof disappear.

Feel free to comment, I might be willing to make changes if anyone see anything drastic. Overall I really liked this Activity, I need practice with chicks, my tablet and lighting, plus I learnt that I need more practice.

Really nicely done Matias, the only things that I would fix would be her neck length and her legs seem a little short for the rest of her anatomy (long arms and torso etc).
Great design though, looks very similar to the warcraft 3 designs too which is never a bad thing.

Great finish for the project.

I think her anatomy might be a little out of whack in several places (obviously not worth changing at this point.) The inside of the left shoulder guard looks a bit flat and under worked compaired to the rest of the pic. Her shoulder should be visible/dissapearing into the armour here too- same as on her other arm (which is done really well.)

Yeah, I need to practice my anatomy, I downloaded that old figure drawing book by Loomis or someone, but my female anatomy needs work.

Malus, looking at the neck it does seem a bit long. I'll have to go have a look at the warcraft 3 stuff, I haven't seen it so it could be a bit freaky.

JohnN, Thanks, I did skimp on that side I was going to make it really dark, hehe, but that through the whole thing out of wack.

Cheers
