Geek chefs seem to have starting playing with things like liquid nitrogen (really, really cold) and lasers in food prep... [8]
There's an enormous tank of the stuff just outside the sciences buildings at La Trobe- I'm tempted to give it a go [:)]
It sounds really good (very small ice crystals because of the rapid freeze), and it seems like you can turn almost anything watery into a sorbet. And add much more alcohol than could normally be put in an ice cream... [;)]
True [:D] I've decided to put off the experiment until the weather warms up again.
Here's a bunch of fun things to do with LN2 http://www.zyra.org.uk/liqnitro.htm
And here is an example of how dangerous the stuff can be http://www.darwinawards.com/personal/personal2000-25.html , it's a personal account from someone suicidal enough to try drinking a -200 degree liquid. Very nearly earnt him a place in the darwin awards, which are awarded after death for doing the human race a favour by killing yourself (removining yourself from the gene pool) in a particularly stupid fashion.
