LOtR's Ring

Submitted by urgrund on

well, lotr seems to be attracting a few posts lately :P
got the crystal ball and some urak-hai going in other threads...

So here's a ring I did up a while back.
It was my first attempt at using DOF, turned out ok but could have been hacked in Photoshop better :) It's also very time consuming to test DoF with all these GI and raytracing options, the concrete in the foregroudn should be more in focus... but oh well!

Yeah 3 lotr posts! :)
looks good, though the back of the ring is too out of focus for my liking, other then that it looks fine :)

edit: I think the floor texture doesnt fit the theme, it looks like the ring is sitting o carpet.

hmm, now that you mention it... it does look a bit like carpet... damnit!
It's actually concrete, very high res as well... I guess the blurring kinda kills the look.
...think i'll have to render it off again fixing a few things :)

That looks great, photorealistic as well. What the hell is DOF?

Bullet- Depth Of Field, in laymens terms it's a blurring of an image over a distance, it's a 3D programs attempt to mimic a photographic phenomenon.

Looking good though Urgund, good to see you got the text glowing. One thing though, the DoF is probably a bit over the top for such a small object.
