Andrew James, Director at new Canberra-based games start-up, Uppercut Games, has given a sneak peek of some gorgeous concept art and in-game shots of their UDK engine powered iOS game, EPOCH. Andrew, who was previously Art Director at 2K Marin Canberra, describes how the team desired to create new and original worlds in their games, and how the setting of EPOCH was what drew the team to choose it for their first title.
They certainly weren't kidding about creating worlds, as EPOCH is sounding quite expansive in terms of varying locations and environments, all of which provides a rich sense of backstory and history to the post-apocalyptic future world of EPOCH.
(Andrew) We wanted each part of the world to have a sense of place, and the feel of a “real city that once was”. Each level in EPOCH is a new unique location that tells a part of the story of what happened to this world.
The varied locations you will visit in EPOCH stretch across the vast destroyed city, from desolate shopping plazas, to long silent freeways scattered with the hulks of rusted cars; through the underground tunnel network, past fallen military checkpoints.
