Melbourne, 27 September 2005 - Dissecta announces two more events for 2005. In October Dissecta is running a Sound and Music in Games panel, while in November the developers of the just released game Heroes of the Pacific (Xbox, PS2, and PC) will discuss how they made it.

Sound and Music in Games, to be held Tuesday 25 October at 7pm, will look at the use of music and sound effects in games, the emerging genre of music games, and the role of professional sound design. Dissecta is pleased to confirm lawyer and music industry identity David Vodicka will outline the legal and commercial aspects of using other peoples' music and sound in video games, and explain the music industry's interest in games. David sits on the ARIA Board, and is Chair of the Association of Independent Record Labels Ltd. There will also be comments from Sony's London SoHo game studio to be played on the night; the studio is responsible for the Sing Star game franchise. Our second speaker will address game making and the task of professional sound design. Sound has come a long way over the past decade in terms of capability and design technique but where is it headed? A 1.5 hour panel including audience Q&A, to be held at the Australian Games Innovation Centre (AIE Presentation Room) part of the Game Developers' Association of Australia, at Level 8, 14 Queens Road, The Atari Building, Melbourne. Tickets for Dissecta's 25 October event: $20 adult and $16 concession, with an early bird price of $16/$13 for those who book and pay before 18 October. Or join the free Dissecta News email at dissecta.com for further discounts.

Heroes of the Pacific, one of the greatest games to come out of Melbourne this year and currently being released around the world by Codemasters (and Ubisoft in North America; distributed by Atari in Australia). Dissecta is pleased to announce that the developer, IR Gurus, will speak at Dissecta's November event, to be held 22 November 2005 in Melbourne. A few specially signed Heroes of the Pacific game posters will be given away on the night. A great opportunity to spend some time with the very creative minds behind one of the must have console fighter pilot games. People who want to attend Heroes of the Pacific in November are encouraged to join the Dissecta News email to be kept in the loop for what will be a fascinating Dissecta event.
