In a recent Cnet interview with Nintendo Australia spokesman, Vispi Bhopti, it was revealed that there "may" be some shortages of the Wii console come launch day in December. Vispi says that they cannot gurantee a "total supply" of Wii's for the launch date, and recommended to those hoping to picking one up on that day to pre-order ahead. Also revealed is a launch title of "Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess", and that the Nintendo Wii is indeed region locked...
"You won't be able to play overseas games on an Australian unit,"
This region locking issue is very frustrating.
After reading the full article, its a pity that they won't be having in-store demo units. I wonder if the issue is more about having to "lock-down" the Wiimote to the unit, or whether there are general issues when using the Wiimote at such a short distance to the TV.
I hope they can solve this in the future, or setup some alternative to the demo units.
no kiosks because they are afraid people will smack bystanders playing baseball.
but seriously, the region encoding is frustrating indeed, but itll probably be fixed similar to how other systems region encoding will be averted.
ive already got mine preordered, so shortages? im only concerned that people get the system that deserves to sell.
not true. they have heaps of kiosks over in north america and canada. i was there and almost every shopping centre had about 4 setup.
Where in the hell can i get one of these i heard after april1 there will be a flood of units.
