The GDAA, with support from the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council, is pleased to announce the launch of the Sony PlayStation2 Development Kit Program for Queensland developers.

The State Government of Victoria under its Game Plan strategy in association with the Game Developers Association of Australia (Victorian Branch) has put together a plan to encourage the development of new high tech enterprises in the computer entertainment industry in Victoria, by providing access to the latest Sony Playstation 2 development kits to Victorian game developers at no cost to the developer.
The developers will be subject to a rigorous application process that will establish a set of development milestones and outcomes designed to encourage the development of PS2 technology in the local industry, but also with a view to getting potential titles published.

The link does work and it goes to www.gdaa.asn.au (which is the Game Developers Association of Australia website). However, it seems the GDAA website is experiencing some downtime at the moment! Keep trying later.
Please explain why this is a Victorian and Qld only sponsorship program?

Last time I checked GDAA was Game Developers Association of Australia - somehow Australia is now a continent consisting of only two states - Qld and Victoria.
