Nocturnal Entertainment Australia has announced the release of version 1.31b of Catapult, a major update to their GameBoy Advance development system .
Catapult promotes the rapid development of GameBoy Advance games, and is applicable to both professional developers and hobbyists.
Catapult currently supports all Windows platforms, with a Linux version coming in a few weeks. It includes an editor, emulator, debugger, integrated toolset, and uses a custom language designed around the GBA hardware.
Catapult comes with full documentation, and eleven tutorials for beginners.
Catapult v1.31b has the following new features:
- Distributed project development through the Internet (similar to CVS, built in)
- Brand new feature-packed level editor, unlocked in the freeware version
- Image management system (through TileLists)
- Sound editor (create, edit or transform sound effects)
- Improved palette and image processing tools
- Full music/sound support in our GBA engine (through the latest version of NMod)
- Improved 3D support, including matrix & vector types and commands..
- New 'Highway' demo
- Expanded user's guide (now more than 150 pages)

An evaluation version of Catapult can be downloaded free from Nocturnal's Web site, and includes playable demos with complete source code. The single developer "Export" version of Catapult costs only $US19.95, and allows 4 ROM builds per month, for a year!
Catapult is available in English and Spanish; German and Italian versions are on the way.
