MELBOURNE – Tuesday 21 October, 2008 – The Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) program will feature a session called 'Screen Forum', a half day workshop featuring a panel of film and video games experts who will look at the 'hot' topic of the convergence of games into film which is putting the games industry on the 'big screen' - in a big way.
Marcus Gillezeau, Writer, Producer & Director of Firelight Productions, Colin South, Producer of Media World, Jackie Turnure, Head of Development & Production at Hoodlum and Mike Fegan, CEO of Transmission Games will look at production processes, financing, business models and content in a session designed for video game developers and film and TV practitioners alike.
Chaired by Tom Crago, the President of the Game Developers' Association of Australia, this half day forum will touch on concepts and questions such as:
• What's happening today in film and TV in Australia?
• Is it time for a new definition of 'screen'?
• What makes a film or TV product work as a game (and vice versa)?
• What are the implications of the tax off-set for production in Australia?
• Convergence… what does it mean in practice?
