Well, Senator Conroy said that the tax rebate for the games industry will get a review if Labour wins the election, and now that has come to pass, it's time to make good on his word. AustralianIT has the news that the Game Developers Association of Australia (GDAA) will be asking the Senator to honour his pre-election promise and so hopefully the 40% tax rebate for games industry will get the attention that the previous Government had failed to give.
However, the recent Auran Developements incident couldn't have come at a worse time, and the AustralianIT questions whether it may cloud further investment in the industry. In response, GDAA CEO, Greg Bondar, had this to say...
"Take any business, accounting firm, law firm, commercial firm, these things happen, and there could be a hold host of reasons… I don’t the industry will be affected, and it goes to show you we’re in a competitive environment."
