Red Steel promised some unique sword fighting fun on the Wii, but many were left a tad disappointed by the inadequate controls. Gamers wanted a true sword yielding experience, not one where attacks relied on pre-programmed swings or quick flicks that set off a chain of combo's on screen but where your movements were mimicked directly on the screen. The potential and the anticipation for a true sword combat game utilising Nintendo's innovative Wii-mote is high, yet unfortunately no developer has tackled the idea since.
Queue Krome Studios, who have just been announced by Lucasarts as taking on the hefty task of fulfilling every nerd's fantasy of swinging a lightsaber on the Wii on none other than Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It seems like the perfect game to tackle the idea, and it looks like Krome may be sprinting with it, as it is reported that gamers will be able to battle each other online.
From Slashdot.org...
The sword-swinging action will be exclusive to the Wii version, and even then, it will only be available in an exclusive "duel mode." The description in the release says that this duel mode will be a multiplayer affair.
There's been some interesting discussion on the wii-motes capability to truly mimic the kind of sword/light saber handling that people are expecting around the nets spawned by this announcement. An editor at a website had this to say... Right now, it's impossible to know if the game will be any good or not, with scant information on how the game will work available. But what we do know is that there is already a great deal of pressure on the developers to make sure the game works to a level deemed acceptable by the passionate Star Wars horde.http://www.pro-g.co.uk/features/article/19-09-2007-156.html
Omg that's so cool bro.
But if I play a frend in say Canada. I will suspect lame a** lagg for us Aussie's.
And "COME ON KROME" new IP god dam it.
i dare say it's probably only going to be local multiplayer.
online play would be too laggy for multiplayer, especially considering the 'broadband' we australians have.
Hmmm now why didn't I think of that you most likely correct.
nevermind, just read the article again... " it is reported that gamers will be able to battle each other online " Will be interesting to see how it goes...
