Ah, Firemint have been pretty tight lipped about any development on the iPhone, but the secret is no more. Firemint has revealed their new iPhone racing game to Pocketgamer, called Real Racing, at GCDC 2008 over at Leipzig, Germany. While there have been various attempts at an accelerometer-driven racing game on the iPhone, Firemint's effort looks to be the most polished and feature rich effort yet. Real Racing offers multiplayer mode over network or wi-fi, and it'll also upload your lap records to the Real Racing leaderboard page, placed on Firemint's specially built Cloudcell service. What's Cloudcell?
Cloudcell is a technology suite developed by Firemint. It integrates game experiences with social networks and sites such as Facebook, YouTube and iGoogle and allows players to connect their gaming with the rest of their digital life.
It looks like you'll be able to show your best records in a Facebook application as well, and amazingly, as your best times are sent to the Cloudcell service, a replay of your race is also converted to video and uploaded onto youTube too.
Details gathered from the Pocketgamer article tells of a pre-Christmas release for Real Racing, and while Firemint aren't settled on which distribution path they're planning to go with just yet (Apple Store or publisher), it looks like they have another winner on their hands.
Pocketgamer has youTube footage of the impressive racing game, and you can find more details at the following link...
