Film Victoria Congratulates Anthony & Julia Lucas - winners of the Annecy Cristal at The Annecy International Animated Film Festival

Film Victoria congratulates Australian filmmakers Anthony and Julia Lucas, recipients of the Grand Prix, Annecy Cristal at the world?s largest and most prestigious animation event - France?s Annecy International Animated Film Festival, for their animation The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello.

Directed by Anthony Lucas and produced by Anthony and Julia Lucas, The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello received production funding from Film Victoria.

Film Victoria also supported Anthony Lucas' earlier films Holding Your Breath. In 2002, Anthony was the recipient of the Film Victoria Greg Tepper Award, which acknowledges emerging filmmakers who have made an exceptional contribution to the Victorian industry.

A gothic horror mystery The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello is the story of Jasper Morello, a disgraced aerial navigator who flees his plague-ridden home on a desperate voyage to redeem himself. Through unchartered waters, Jasper discovers an island on which lives a terrifying creature that may be the cure for the plague. On the journey back to civilisation comes the shocking climax: Jasper discovers that the greatest horror of all lies within the man himself. Narrated by Joel Edgerton, cast members are Helmut Bakaitis, Tommy Dysart, Jude Beamont and Lewis Finader.

The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello will screen at this year?s Sydney Film Festival as a finalist for the Yoram Gross Animation Award in the 2005 Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films.
