I'm catching up on the news I've been meaning to post since I was away last week, so apologies in advance if you've heard (and I'm sure most of you have) of the following news items I will be posting tonight.
A big congratulations must go to Firemint for scoring yet more awards for their immensely successful titles, Flight Control and Real Racing, this time at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2010, held just last week. They've received two very prestigious awards from Apple themselves, marking the first time any developer has received more than one award at their annual Apple Design Awards. The Melbourne games developer received an Apple Design Award for their Flight Control iPad app, whereas the other design award was given for their iPhone app, Real Racing.
Of course, the crew over at Firemint are pretty pleased with the news, releasing the following statement to press...
We are absolutely thrilled to have been honored with two incredibly prestigious Apple Design Awards for Flight Control HD on iPad and Real Racing on iPhone. Firemint is the first company in the 14 year history of the awards to have two winning apps in one year.
Flight Control HD is the iPad adaptation of Firemint’s massive iPhone hit that invented the “line drawing” genre, and introduced numerous tweaks to make it a perfect fit for the iPad’s larger display. More information about Flight Control HD is available at http://firemint.com/flightcontrolhd.
Real Racing is Firemint’s ground breaking iPhone racer, which redefined player expectations for what is possible on the iPhone. More information about Real Racing is available at http://firemint.com/realracing. Players can download a free lite version with limited content, Real Racing GTI, from http://firemint.com/getapp/realracinggti.
The awards were presented at a ceremony at Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco on June 8, and included 5 awards for iPhone apps and 5 awards for iPad apps. The winning apps showcase the best technology adoption, design and user experience, innovation and performance. More information about the Apple Design Awards: http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/ada.
